BREAST CANCER PREVENTION & EARLY DETECTION WORKBOOK
Empowering Communities. Saving Lives. One Barangay at a Time.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Filipino women. Early detection saves lives—yet many communities still lack the knowledge and resources to act in time.
The PCS Cancer Commission Foundation (PCS CanCom) is closing this gap through the Breast Cancer Manual & Outreach Project, designed to equip barangay health workers, community leaders, and families with the tools to fight breast cancer right where it begins—in the community.
The Breast Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Workbook is a practical, easy-to-use guide created for barangay health workers, the first point of care for many Filipinos.
It covers:
💬 How to talk about breast cancer with patients and families in simple, compassionate ways
📖 Essential facts and why early detection matters
🌿 Prevention strategies and lifestyle tips
🏛 Current national policies on breast cancer care
Our Impact So Far
Since its launch, the workbook has become a trusted resource nationwide:
2,000+ copies distributed nationwide
Hundreds of barangay health workers trained and empowered
65+ hospitals and institutions engaged in education and screening activities
Thousands of Filipinos reached through summits, outreach missions, and community events
Featured in the Philippine National Cancer Summit and #BustOutCancer Nationwide Forum
💡 With support from the Philippine College of Surgeons, AIA Philippines, ICanServe Foundation, AWSP, and PSBS, the project continues to multiply its impact—one community at a time.
“Barangay health workers are the true gatekeepers of the community. With the right knowledge, skills, and compassion, they hold the power to save lives in ways no other healthcare provider can.”
Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala, Director, PCS Cancer Commission Foundation, Inc. Founding President, ICanServe Foundation
“Empowering communities with knowledge is our strongest weapon against breast cancer. By equipping barangay health workers and partnering with organizations, we bring prevention, early detection, and hope closer to every Filipino.”
