PHILIPPINE NATIONAL CANCER SUMMIT
The Philippine National Cancer Summit is the nation's foremost cancer conference, uniting multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary experts from both the national and international cancer community. As the largest annual gathering of doctors, policymakers, patient advocates, and partners, the event serves as a platform to co-create solutions and foster advancements in integrated cancer care. The summit embodies the National Integrated Cancer Control Act's (NICCA) mandate for multi-sectoral collaboration, aiming to build a cancer care system that is strong, equitable, and person-centered, specifically tailored to the needs of Filipinos.
BREAST CANCER PREVENTION & EARLY DETECTION WORKBOOK
Empowering Communities. Saving Lives. One Barangay at a Time.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Filipino women. Early detection saves lives—but many communities still lack access to the right knowledge.
The PCS Cancer Commission Foundation (PCS CanCom) is addressing this through the Breast Cancer Manual & Outreach Project, equipping barangay health workers, community leaders, and families with tools to fight breast cancer at the frontlines.
MULTIDISCIPLINARY TUMOR BOARD (MDTB) WORKSHOP SERIES
Strengthening Cancer Care Through Collaboration
On May 20, 2023, the PCS Cancer Commission Foundation (CanCom) brought its Multidisciplinary Tumor Board (MDTB) Workshop Series to the Bicol Medical Center, uniting local healthcare professionals in a hands-on learning experience.
Multidisciplinary tumor boards are the cornerstone of quality cancer care—bringing together surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, nurses, and allied health professionals to determine the best treatment plans for patients. By guiding institutions in forming and strengthening their own MDTBs, PCS CanCom helps move the Philippines closer to a healthcare system where every person with cancer receives team-based, person-centered care.
This workshop highlighted the power of collaboration between PCS CanCom and BMC, advancing the goals of the National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA) by ensuring hospitals nationwide can deliver coordinated, evidence-based cancer treatment.
💡 Together, we can expand this workshop to more regions—empowering hospitals and health leaders to build stronger, more resilient cancer care systems.
👉 Collaborate with Us – Partner with PCS CanCom to host an MDTB Workshop in your hospital or region, and let’s work together to establish or strengthen your tumor board.
MULTIDISCIPLINARY TUMOR BOARD MANUAL OF OPERATIONS
Strengthening Cancer Care Through Collaboration
The Multidisciplinary Tumor Board (MDT) Manual of Operations was created to guide hospitals and cancer practitioners in organizing and sustaining effective tumor boards—where surgeons, oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals come together to decide the best course of treatment for every patient.
This manual is more than a reference—it is a vital tool in fulfilling the mandate of the National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA), which emphasizes team-based, person-centered cancer care. By standardizing the conduct of MDTs across hospitals, we help ensure that Filipino patients receive comprehensive, coordinated, and quality care regardless of where they are treated.
Through this initiative, the PCS Cancer Commission Foundation (CanCom) empowers hospital leaders to build stronger cancer programs, improve treatment outcomes, and align with the national goal of a resilient, integrated cancer care system.
💡 If your institution is building or strengthening an MDT, or if you wish to collaborate in advancing multidisciplinary cancer care, PCS CanCom is ready to work with you.
VIRTUAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY TUMOR BOARD (VMDTB)
Driving Collaboration. Advancing Cancer Care.
The PCS Cancer Commission Foundation (CanCom) leads the way in strengthening cancer care through the Virtual Multidisciplinary Tumor Board (VMDTB). This initiative mobilizes and guides hospital tumor boards across the country, ensuring that cancer patients benefit from integrated, team-based, and person-centered care.
VMDTB sessions are held monthly, each one aligned with the Department of Health’s Cancer Awareness Month calendar—spotlighting specific cancer types throughout the year. These sessions bring together surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, and allied health professionals to share cases, exchange expertise, and help hospitals establish or strengthen their own tumor boards.
Through close collaboration with professional organizations, specialty societies, and partner institutions, the VMDTB has become a platform for collective learning and system-wide improvement in cancer management.
💡 By working together, we ensure that every Filipino with cancer has access to coordinated, evidence-based, and compassionate care.
👉 Collaborate with Us – Join our monthly VMDTBs, partner with us in hosting future sessions, or support the expansion of this project to reach more hospitals nationwide.
